ThrAshes Series

How many of us would have imagined the below things to happen just few months back …

-- Australian Bowlers being ripped apart and getting scored at 5 per over consistently in a test match.
-- Australian Batsmen getting hit with rising deliveries all across their body frequently.
-- Catches getting dropped by Australian fielders.
-- For a change from sledging the opponents, aussies lose temper in the field and getting fined.
-- Aussie bowler gets a wicket and before the celebration ends umpire ‘no-balls’ him.
-- Out of 8 innings with 6 quality batsmen there is only one 3 figure mark by an aussie batsman.
-- Highest average by an aussie batsmen is just around 40 after 8 innings.
-- Shane Warne is the most consistent batsmen in their line up. Yes its Shane Warne.

This has what had happened with Australian team in the ongoing Ashes series.

I was fortunate enough to see all the 4 tests’ first sessions (most part).
It was cricket at its best. So feels our SACHIN watching all these matches at his home.
Every hour of this series had some interesting things happening.
Crowd glued to their seats till last ball of last day.

Steve Waugh always says most of their test matches have been won in the first session of the match.
So is the series, as they try to dominate and mostly succeeded in the first couple of hours of every series opener.

That’s the secret of their long stretching success.
They almost did that at Lords in the first test and won the match though not convincingly except for that machine bowler McGrath.

From then , its been England all the way.
Two back to back test matches going till the last ball finish one actual win and another moral win for England.

Aussies have no clue at all to contain England in any dept. only after that they can think of winning a match against them.

This series is worth all its hype much before it even started.
Find of the series will be Pieterson for England.

But England owe most of its success to that man ‘Freddie’ Flintoff.
Amazingly this guy is ready to bowl at any instant of the match irrespective of his previous spells’ length.

In 2nd and 3rd tests I literally saw him plucking the ball from Vaughan’s hand to have a go and he did succeed in getting wickets.

Final thing to highlight is Vaughan’s captaincy.
He commands respect from his team mates.

Not many would have noticed what happened after England managed a draw in the third test with just one wicket needed for a win.
Just after the last ball was bowled, he called his team in the ground and in the huddle he told ‘WELL DONE GUYS’.
We were almost there. We will continue the same aggression.
He appreciated the efforts of his frontline bowlers.

And only then they left the field.

That’s ultimate leadership,

to stand by the team when they go down by giving more than 100 %.

Ponting’s century of 140+ at trying circumstances showed how good a captain he is.
But its the only spark in the entire series so far.

Having said this all, I keep my fingers crossed and wish England wins the fifth match and the series.
But we all know how good Aussies are when under pressure.

Its always nice to see a match keenly contested between two best teams and none being our home team.
That case we can enjoy every ball being played without any bias.

Lets watch out for another cracker of a match and good ending to an exciting series.

Rage of Angels & Nothing Lasts Forever.

Its just by chance that i happened to read these two novels one after the other.
Amazing insight about the lives of a lawyer and a doctor is given in these novels.
Sheldon has taken utmost care to give the finest of details that makes the story reading more interesting.
To be frank i read Sheldon novels' for the way he puts female characters in front and the way he develops the storyline around them. These two novels were in the same lines with more excitement all the way.

Rage of Angels:

>> It holds a special place for me as i completed reading this novel in record time.
>> Started this on a saturday evening and am done with this by sunday night.
>> Probably i would have spent around 8-10 hours in this.
>> Jeniffer Parker surely a character with amazing confidence and boldness.
>> The courtroom scenes were thrilling and awesome.Every case she handles will be a having a unexpected twists much to the intelligence of Miss Parker.
>> Anybody wanted to know how cases are trialed in US this is the book to read.Such a complicated concepts are brought out with ease in this novel.

>> Best part of this novel for me is the phase when Jeniffer Parker learns about she is going to deliver a baby and the next 6-7 chapters that follows.
>> I still think the feelings , emotions, joys etc a woman gets during this particular phase of her life can not be explained more candidly than this.
>> Such a bold and courageous women changes so suddenly with careful approach to everything she does is just the sheldon's way of staying high above his peers is story narration.
>> From chapter-2 the novel goes with jet speed and just you would be turning the pages on and on and on before the novel gets over.
>> Must read for all sheldon fans.

Nothing lasts forever

>> The novel starts in a courtroom scene and since i read Rage of Angels before this novel, i just thought another novel based on lawyers.
>> But i was totally surprised when i completed the novel as it was all about Doctors and their lives and the stress they go through daily.
>> Again like in Rage of Angels we can realize that the author had spent enough time in studying the life styles of doctors and used that throughout the novel without disturbing the storyline.
>> Its a new approach to story telling by the way novel started and the subsequent chapters unfolds around the court-room scene of the first chapter.
>> It tells how much mental trauma (good) doctors undergo and how this profession can take a doctor to the badways like drugs etc...
>> Everytime Miss Taylor was called as a nurse the way she frowns at those people saying she is a doctor and goes on with her duty is one of the most beautiful portrays of self-confidence,boldness that women can have if they want to achieve something desparately betting their life.
>> Another sheldon-only-can-do climax in the end which gives more or less unexpected ending.
>> Worth ur time during a week end.

Memorable Trip !!!

Few things in life will be etched in our memory forever.
My weekend trip to "Nagarhole" two weeks back happened to be so.

Till last moment i was tentative about joining this trip as i was not keeping well for the past two weeks or so prior to this trip.

But it being a team outing i thought better i join them.
As if by magic i was feeling better and better as the trip progressed.

This place is close to Mysore and some 5-6 hrs journey from Bangalore.

We started on Friday night around 11:30 in the night and along with started the fun.
After some good jokes, drinks, shouts within bus we managed to go to sleep well past midnight.

Somebody was there always to check sleeping people if they are actually sleeping by yelling their name out.

We got down at the "JUNGLE INN" resort next day morning around 6 am.
Man, this resort is right beside the mainroad and the moment i got down i was sure that am here for a treat with nature's beauties.

I still remember the smell and chill of the cool breeze that swept across my face.
What a morning start it was for a brighter day ahead, i did not know that time.

After some rest and break and breakfast we all started to nearby water falls !
Who said that waterfalls is nearby i do not know. But it took hell a lot of time to reach there.
Atleast it seemed so to others. But i was wondering if the sight seeing am enjoying from within bus by looking outside and the passing clouds and green stretch mountains will come to an end soon if the bus stops. Fortunately it did not.

After some 3 hrs of journey we got down at the foot steps of another mound with full greeneries around us and started moving ahead for the water falls.

Through out the air was mixed with some good natural pollution-free oxygen with a very good aroma that we get to smell only in forest and hilly regions.

On the way we stopped at flowing waters and took enough snaps by standing amidst those fast water currents. It was so chill. Then we moved ahead and ahead for some more minutes and suddenly we saw the huge cry of water falling from top with the huge force.

Wow ! its a good scene always to see waterfalls especially if they are bit interior in the forest or hilly regions.Had good time there and it started raining too all of a sudden and my joy had no bounds.
I just love rains as i love ice-creams. In fact i was looking around for a quick bite of cone-icecreams.

Then we came back and had lunch and started immediately for "Safari Trip" , a trip in jeep which takes us into deep forest so that we could see some wild animals.

We actually went into the deep forest as much as possible and the guide who came with us gave us lots of pep-talks like how they count the tigers in a forest, when and where an animal could be found in a forest, etc. Suddenly i saw around and i could see only trees and trees high above trying to hand-shake with skies. It was full green around us with that rythmic humm of bees and bugs continously heard thru the air.
GREEN GREEN GREEN. GREEN everywhere around us. "PASUMAI" is the (tamil) word i got into my mind on seeing these everlasting , neverfading stretches of greenaries.A single word that conveys so much of meaning about nature and helps us to envision poetic natural scenes like this.
We saw enough no. of deers and on the way back saw some real big and huge wild elephants and a bear. This guy was actually standing in the middle of the road and he was in deep thought. Suddenly he saw our jeep which was just coming out of a turning.
I WAS SCARED.But driver told that he will go away quitely and so he did giving a strange look to us.
Probably he would have wondered what these creatures coming in jeep and doing here at my place.

In the evening we had a chance to see "Tribal Dance" by a local tribal group. Not a single word we could make out of what they spoke. But we enjoyed their dance.

Next day we went for mountain climbing.Rather it was climbing down from a steep stretch of moutain. To my surprise i was in the first group who climbed through an easy way to the place from where we are supposed to climb down. The instructors were very friendly and the instructions were very clear on how to go down by holding on to the ropes. I came down with less of worries or fears of height. Thats the best part for me personally on the trip second to the scenic beauties of mother nature all along the way for the past two days. We started back on Sunday noon and reached bangalore on sunday night.

It was a strenous trip but i could not resist the thought of staying there for couple of more days and enjoy the peace that is there for anybody to take.

Its a memorable trip worth remembering whenever mental-tiredness comes to me.

Vvvvvvsssssshhhhhhkkkkkkk.

Deception Point - 6/10

I would rate this novel from Dan Brown in the end of the list of all his novels.
Having set his standards with Da Vinci Code, this is truly not upto that point.

Frankly i really pushed myself to get thru few pages.
He went into more explanations of facts in many ocassions which was not so interesting too.
This was not the case in his other novels.

Also i could figure out in advance two major turning points of the novel in advance.
May be i got used to his writing style or was it a blind guess, i dono.

70% of the novel is really good. especially the last 150-170 pages.
But the efforts he had put in collecting in some amazing facts about space science, marine science etc were fantastic.

Probably he could have given those in a better mix of story and facts.

If anybody wanted to read Dan Brown novels , here is the order i would suggest.

-- Da Vinci Code
-- Angels and Demons
-- Digitial Fortress
-- Deception Point

Am eagerly waiting for his next novel to be released.

FEDERER & TENNIS !!! CHAMP HAS ARRIVED.

THE CHAMP HAS ARRIVED !!!
In fact i sensed this, seeing wimbledon final 2004. (a year ago).

He had come a long way after that with just adding trophies too his shelf.
Yes he is ROGER FEDEROR. He is too good a player,

U never feel like changing the channels if he is playing.

He has the class of Sampras + that extra bit of aggression which many felt Sampras missed, which is much debatable if you had watched Sampras over the years.

The best part about Federer fondly refered by Vijay Amritraj and Alan Wilkins as THE CHAMPION , is he never sees the spot or the ball when is returning it.

He is a class act with TENNIS SKILLS in each and every cells of his body.

I still remember what Roddick had to say after losing to THE CHAMP in wimbledon in 2004.

"If i throw wash basin at Feddie (Federer) he is coming up with a bath tub.
If thats the case i could not do much."

Its only matter of time for Federer to win a French Open and complete the GRAND-4 sweep which eluded Pete Sampras.

Surely there is much records that will be broken by this young talent from Swiss.

He is very strong in rallies, baselines, plays at nets with better control and above has that scud like aces when needed.

More importantly he keeps his cool and never you could see him extra reacting or for that matter fist punching on the court.

I only look forward for the records that are waiting on his way to be grabbed by this young fellow.

CRICKET & BANGLADESH

Its that time of the year !!!
Another cricket season and another set of tournaments to be played.

Welcome back to Earth Aussies... !!!
Good to see that even the most highly rated team like AUSTRALIA to taste failures and defeats.
It shows that we are all HUMANS and there is a power above all of us.

Known for their continous coming out of about-to-fail situations and succeeding with a bang all the time they surely have hell a lot of work to do to maintain their reputation.

Things did not go well for them from the very start of Ashes tour to England.
Being beaten by England in the warm-up twenty-20 and losing to county side ...
it did not stop there.

They were beaten by Bangladesh in a ODI. The biggest upset in ODI this decade probably.
No.1 Vs No.10 how many would have thought about this result.

Good going Bangladesh... that guy Ashraful is wonderful.
He is surely talented and will go a long way if politics does not interfere in his career.
Just for this guy went to bed very late watching him rip apart English Bowlers all round the ground in the natwest match against England.
He is just too good.

Now all eyes on Greg Chappel and the INDIAN team under him...
ALL THE BEST GREG !!!

Am personally much much relieved to see my Prince of calcutta Sourav getting into form with his big hittings in the county matches...No better scene to watch in cricket than Sourav Ganguly coming down the track and hitting fast bowlers out the grounds for sixes.

Ok ... hope for good times ahead of INDIAN cricket this season onwards...
Get well soon SACHIN !!! we will miss you in the srilanka triseries.

Comeback with a bang !!!

Did not do much of reading or blogging as i was really busy with stock market and reading Warren Buffet... His strategies are surely paying off to me... wondering i did not come across these books till date... its never later for better things...

Gotta work now.... Rest later ...
Vvvvvvssshhhhhkkkkk.

ANNIYAN

At last managed to see Anniyan yday.

Frankly the movie is not upto the expectation.
But these expectations were built around the hypes created pre-release of the movie.

The very way of handling the story and the knot of the movie tells that Shankar is not ready for another "BOYZ" at any cost.

He chose the same knot of INDIAN and polished with different UI and released the product with some good new features.

If at all the movie the goes well it will be because of VIKRAM.
If at all the movie gets some award, it will be because of VIKRAM.
If at all the movie sets some kind of standards it will be because of VIKRAM.

The above "if at alls" does not take any credit away from Shankar and his crew for the hard work and effort they had put for this movie.
its a FANTASTIC FANTASY if to be told in one line.

Below samples are there to show that u r watching Shankar's movie...
-- Frog being electrocuted in the flash back scene
-- Painting the entire stretch of streets for a song sequence of just a few minutes
-- Kms long silk saree
-- Thiruvaiyaaru music festival scenes
-- aiyangaaru veettu alage song back drop such a wonderful flower stretch
-- VIKRAM bringing moon and stars to Sadha's house to show them that she is more beautiful
-- The above scene is the most poetic scene in this action movie

VIKRAM ...
He is just amazing in all three roles.
He differentiates these three roles , REMO-AMBI-ANNIYAN with just body language ...
He is too good and even Prakash Raj known for his versatile acting finds the going very tough.

BEST SCENE should be the interrogation scene between Prakash Raj and VIKRAM.
I still wonder if anybody could still depict Multi Personality Disorder better than this scene.
A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO VIKRAM for that wonderful scene.

He just needs fraction of second to change into any character that too infront of moving camera.

Much of the scenes when anniyan talks you could not avoid thinking about INDIAN KAMAL speaking.
Even background music at times reminds about MUDALVAN.
But Harris Jayaraj had done a fantastic job in giving all the numbers to be mix of melo, rock, beat.

Sujatha had done wonderfully well with his dialogues.few samples...
-- These roses are thinking they are the most beautiful ones in this world. Thats why i had sent those to your house. Let them see you and realise whats beauty all about.
-- Moon was thinking that it has got the most shining face in this world. Thats why i got it with me to your house to see your face.

Vivek had done exceptionally well with his comedy track that comes along the story.
AFTER A LONG BREAK, VIVEK... KEEP IT GOING.
its good to hear his ' ADA PAAVIGALA ' after long time.... :).

Art director Sabu Siril and stunt director Peter hain to be mentioned for their fantastic job too.
Good to see Raju Sundaram for a song sequence on screen.
Welcome back Raju after ur crush/crash with Simran.
The dance sequences were really missing you.

Overall this movie would have been much better hit if Shankar had given through out the movie atleast 50% of what he had given in the final 30 mins of the movie.

Very Rare but Very True ! ! !

How would you feel if you 2 of your favourite things happen to you at the same time ?
Fantastic isnt it ?

Thats how i felt when i happened to watch ,
BATSHA (stopped tracking the count of seeing this movie),
Rojakootam (what a romantic movie taking both friendship and love to greater heights),
Minnale (all time favourite from Madhavan R. )
Jay Jay (logicless, nail-biting, romantic, musical movie)

And to add to this its a weekend my exams got over.
What a way to get out of a month long stress.

Best Scenes from these movies :
BATSHA !!!
Of course the entire movie. But the best of best part will be the MEDICAL COLLEGE scene.
Still remember the whistles in the theatre when RAJNI speaks to the chairman of the college for a seat for his sister. No dialogues only background music and full of whistles.

Rojakootam !!!
All scenes in which Bhoomikha appears.Too good she is.
Srikanth and Bhoomikha looked like a good pair.

Jay Jay !!!
Maddy shouting at the villain in the climax scene.
Excellent performance.

Minnale !!!
Maddy wishing Reema Happy B'day after taking her out for a date and goofing up with every plan on that evening. His expressions after he realizes thats its not Reema's B'day that day was too good.

Have few books pending to read and few movies to be watched.
Hope soon i do take care of those .

Vvvvvsssshhhhkkkkk ... ! ! !

Chandramukhi !!!

Its been little over two months now since i last blogged.
Time flies eh ?
Lots of things to update.

First things first.

Happened to see (probably pushed myself desparately) to see Chandramukhi on firstday firstshow (and firstday third show).

People who know how crazy or mad about this five letter word R-A-J-N-I will be surprised if they know that i have not seen any of his movie on firstday.

Chandramukhi broke that stretch of mine.
Two reasons. At bangalore, tickets are more easily accessible to people than in any city of Tamilnadu (atleast the first few weeks).
After BABA its been a real long break from RAJNI and so i can not wait anylonger than to see it on first day firstshow.

Its been fun fun fun all along to be with a mad crowd like that.

Still remember the scene at the theatre when RAJNI makes his appearance in the screen for the first time.Oh my GOD. Everyone were screaming , shouting , whistling with coins, papers, flowers flying around. He is THE MASS HERO !!!
Anybody want to debate on this ?

To be frank, its not a RAJNI movie for his hard core fans like me.
But its a big relief to see RAJNI doing a movie like this and coming out of his so-called IMAGE.

He still has huge fan following across states and countries.
We could see that by the mails floating around telling about the first day experiences in USA, and other states of INDIA.

April 14,2005 is one of those memorable days.

Another Week End !!! Annamalai once more !!!

Another Week end .
Spent time on watching three movies, one beautiful novel, and songs songs and more songs
One movie on the release day.(after a long time).
But why i did so i wondered later...such a bad mov(i)e.
It got compensated by the next two movies.
Especially the last one, Annamalai, one of my all time favourite.

For many people, second-half of picture with full of action is what more prefered as they their (my) super star Rajni in full action.
But for me personally first half is the best.
So many situations to bring out his innocence and he did that to his perfection.
Wondered at time if Rajni is being wasted by so-called IMAGE and directors not doing justice to his abundant acting skills, after this movie.

If there is anybody who could make me more joyful when am down to the core, its only two people now. one is RAJNI.

Having known every bit of dialogues in this movie, it was more enjoyable to watch his lightning speed mannerisms and style of dialogue deliveries.

By the way when is the next telecast of this movie again ? :-)
Vvvssshhhkkkk

Paarthiban Kanavu

I just wondered why i missed such a good work from a such a great author, for such a long time.
This novel is amazingly written considering the time in which it is written. (late 1940s).
Throughout the novel Kalki brings out the "desire of freedom" is the most important thing in front of everything.
And since this is the time of our independence reaching its climax, we can imagine the effect this would have had.

The beautiful scenaries of Chozha dynasty could not have been better described.
Every reader would have felt as if he is there in these feast-of-the-eyes places around Uraiyur,Trichi,Mamallapuram etc.
Especially as i had spent my early childhood and schooling in these scenic beautiful places, it took me there after a long time.i thoroughly enjoyed this.
To base a novel on a historic backdrop, what you need to do to make it to the perfection ?
Just read this novel.
This novel became more ever-lasting, with a beautiful love-tale as the background.
I wish desparately that i could spend some good amount of time in a house like Ponnan & Valli lives.

Kalki is simply the best with his choice of words, ways of describing scenaries, bringing out twists...much more.
Its only time for me now to read my all time favourite ' Ponniyin Selvan '.
Vvvssshhhkkkk....

Thanneer Thesam

Excellent work by Vairamuthu !!!
He thoroughly showed his class throughout. A very different approach to story telling mingled with some amazing facts.Irony strikes when there is aplenty of water around but still six people struggling for a single drop of it to drink and survive.
Just remembered these lines...
Water Water everywhere , not a single drop to drink.. !!!
So much of authority and class Vairamuthu had shown in this particular work.
Full of facts about water, ocean, few hits on indian politics, pathetic conditions of fishermen, the perspections goes on...
And all these in the backdrop of an excellent love-story...nothing more to ask for.

By naming the heroine as 'Tamil' he made use to the maximum , the usage of the most sweetest word in this language.

Felt really good to read such a good work.

What next ???
Could b possibly ' Digital Fortress-Dan Brown ' or ' Ponniyin Selvan-Kalki ' (the longest awaited).
Vvvvssshhhhkkkk.

After a break !!!

Am back after a short break.
really pressed with so much of work.

But more or less i end up wasting time here and there and things gets delayed.
Need to be managing the time more effectively.

Will keep blogging atleast every alternate days.

Finished reading Master of the Game by Sheldon.
Another good one.But his standard is not maintained throughout the novel.
Some place felt kind of bored.
But it got compensated in the last 100 odd pages as it went it jet speed.

Now moved onto reading 'Thaneer Thesam' by vairamuthu.
Amazing supremacy he has got over Tamil language.
Choice of words, and single word conveying more than one meaning at the same line...
more i read, more am amazed....

Total comments reserved till i complete it.

Got "The monk who sold is Ferrari" and Digital Fortress (Dan Brown) today.

Will take on this once thaneer thesam is done.
(hopefully before my exams at April :-) ... )

Gotta leave now... to temple ... vvssshhkkk

Departing and being apart !!!

Its from the movie "Kadhal sadugudu" acted by Vikram...
being apart and the pains with it can never better be described than this...

Angels and Demons - Uhffff !!! Its Great !!!

Wow !!!
Great work and great book.
Must read for book-lovers.
I would have enjoyed it even more if i had been to Vatican and Rome.
I gotto miss this two during my europe visit 'coz of lack of time.

Even then Dan Brown narrated these places realistically.
Many mysterious things are around us which we had hardly noticed.
Antimatters, concepts and facts of physics, illuminati, facts about GOD etc are few of those.

Dan brown made me to visualize my physics classes again.
In fact i did lots of google while i read this book and re-learnt many things ;-).

Want to know how to address a large gathering and drive your point across.
Refer to Camerlango address to the cardinals and to the media.

Thank God i came across this book.
Surely i will read this again after some time.

Breaks !!!

Its always good to get a break.
Especially after some strenuous work.
Gives us time to re-charge our batteries.
Look around and see whats happening and take a deep breath.
So what i did in the last 3-days break ?

Completed reading 'Angels and Demons'.
Went for a movie on release-day after long time and it was worth it.
Two matches won by aussies in complete control or atleast they made it look so.(vb series).
Spent as much time as possible in doing my favourite things.
Listened to many numbers of Raja.

Thats it for now...

Fear of those Days

Its always good to experience the feeling we get during the time of exams.
Full tension, so many chapters to complete , so many questions to look,
practice exams question papers to solve...fun fun fun that creates more stress though.

But why am i telling this now.Yes you are right. got my exams over last weekend.
First time i on a new year eve i was really putting some effort onto a task.
since 1,2,8,9 i had exams, nothing much i could do during new year time.

now that its gone, feel like i have so much of time in front of me to use.
Switched back to read 'Angels and Demons'.
Man, amazing work !!!
Comments reserved till i complete reading this book.(yday was into it till 1am).

Got to work now.
more updates later.
:-).

Wow !!!

Happened to listen to one my favourite numbers...
Sakkarai Nilave (Youth)...

Hmm... how many times you hear this song, new meanings you get...
powerful lyrics, soft and mild expressions...

Good way to gear up for the day...

Kaathal konda ithayam athu kadavul pola,
unara thaane mudiyum athil uruvam illai.
Vellai sirippugal un thavaraa ?
Athil kollai ponathu en thavaraa ? .....

Wow Vairamuthu !!!

Why you did so ?

Why you did so ?

Did you want to see the people off-shore?
But we never gave that trouble to you as we came to see you all times.
Why you did so ?

When we collected the pearls ,
We never know this kind of perils.
Why you did so ?

Children come to your shore to play games.
But you played the wrong game in all our lives.
Why you did so ?

If you go farther and farther from the shore,
You could have seen all the tallest buildings.
But you rose on the shores so high and gaves us all a big sigh.
Why you did so ?

You should have thought deeper like you,
when somebody told you that you can shake hands with the skies.
Why you did so ?

Did you decide to make you taste more sweeter ?
But even our tears are now more saltier.
Why you did so ?

Oh Sea, Why you did so ?

This Day, Best Day

This Day, Best Day !!!

For the new dreams i get,
For the new people i met,
For the new flowers i smell,
For the new goals i dwell,
And Much More...

This Day,Best Day !!!

Wait a minute ...
Tomorrow will be even better !!!
